Project Muse
This pre-war walk up apartment will forever hold a place in my heart. It was the very first home my husband and I shared together, the place we brought our first two children home to. It was the canvas that allowed my taste to evolve and embolden during my most formative years as a designer. I learned so much about my aesthetic, repainting every room in the apartment at least twice and constantly bringing antiques and all sorts of furniture pieces in and out.
The kitchen was my first renovation. Even though we had done many for clients by this point there is something to be said about the first one you do for yourself. You just notice all of the details a little more acutely after you’ve lived it. I took immense pride in the finished product which I felt perfectly fused the history of the 1908 building with the updated features that everyone craves in a kitchen.
Noteworthy Moment
It was most definitely when my husband walked into our freshly painted all white apartment and called his mom for a second opinion asking, “So is hospital white "the" thing now?”
In fact, that might have been the beginning of the end for neutrals and I.
In the client’s own words…
"When we ultimately decided to make the move out of the city it softened the bittersweet twinge to know we were leaving the apartment in the hands of a recently engaged couple. It was like watching the circle of life all over again... “
